Marriage Counseling

You belong with your love on your arm

When my husband and I got engaged, we knew we would each bring some baggage into our marriage from our upbringings. We'd been living together for several years, and our arguments weren't great either. We sought a counselor who could help us, hoping if we went when things were good it would be easier to go again if things weren't. Our therapist used the Prepare/Enrich framework and it put us on a path toward productive conflict resolution, improved communication, and overall relationship satisfaction. It is, by far, the best money we spent on our wedding. Many years into marriage, I am so grateful to have tools for how to navigate when life gets hard.

When someone tells me they are engaged, I always give the unsolicited advice* to do pre-marital counseling. Because marriage is hard. And when it's good, it's awesome. I realized that if I care enough about this to tell strangers what to do, I should pay attention to that. I became a Prepare/Enrich facilitator in January 2026 and have enjoyed working with both pre-marital and married couples since. I love helping couples improve their communication, strengthen their conflict resolution, and generally understand each other better. If you would like to improve these things in your relationship, I would love to work with you.

*No. I'm not normally that person. But for doulas and pre-martial counseling, I am. Game changers deserve advocates.
